White Hot Light: Twenty-Five Years in Emergency Medicine
Frank Huyler
I will tell you straight off that I didn’t like this book at all.
My expectations were that this would be a book about the author’s twenty-five years as an Emergency Room physician – his cases and the patients that he treated.
Instead, the book was a loosely held together set of essays that sometimes talked about his patients and their outcomes inter-mixed with his commentary on living in New Mexico. While the author discussed some of his patients, the book felt very disjointed with no clear narrative.
I really enjoy reading about doctors and their patients and I understand with an emergency room physician, they sometimes don’t know the outcome, but I just didn’t enjoy what Dr Huyler presented here.
I’m sure that other readers may feel different.
